Overview

The Senior Technical Writer for Qualification documents plans, schedules, and produces qualification documentation for a global audience. The Sr. Technical Writer works independently as a contributing member of the Global Service department, which is a multi-disciplinary team that supports Waters' laboratory instrumentation and related software. This role will report to the Director, Global Services Product Management.



Responsibilities

    Plan, schedule, and produce qualification documentation for technically complex products such as HPLC and MS instruments. Qualification documentation includes Qualification Workbooks (QWBs), Systems Qualification Tool (SQT) Protocols, Test Descriptions, and Change Notes. Provide writing assistance for ancillary compliance documentation, such as Service Notes, when necessary.
  • Follow the department's ISO procedures in an efficient and timely manner. This includes using the relevant documentation software and product management tools, such as JIRA and SAP, to archive documentation and provide evidence that the writing and documentation procedures have been followed.
  • Consistently meet deadlines and deliver high-quality documentation on schedule. Estimate, scope, and prioritize projects, and negotiate realistic delivery deadlines.
  • Keep the Product Owner apprised of progress on projects and suggest solutions to problems. Work on multiple projects concurrently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Work with members of the Qualification team, evaluation/test, training, and customer support groups. Develop strong working relationships with project team members, especially within Global Services. Share techniques and skills with other writers of the team.
  • Adhere to all content development, editorial, localization, and department processes across all assigned projects.
  • Identify opportunities for content reuse across the compliance documentation set and ensure consistency of compliance documentation.
  • Suggest improvements to and support and drive the implementation of new tools and processes across the department.


Qualifications

  • 7+ years of technical writing experience, including documenting complex devices.
  • A bachelor's degree in a science or engineering related field or experience in a scientific field.
  • Understand moderately complex systems and produce concise, well thought-out compliance documentation (Qualification Workbooks (QWBs), Systems Qualification Tool (SQT) Protocols, Test Descriptions, and Change Notes).
  • Experience with writing technical documentation for scientific audiences. Prior experience providing technical writing for laboratory instrumentation, qualification procedures, compliance procedures and related software highly preferred.
