The UCI Health Compliance Program is responsible for the implementation of an effective compliance program consistent with the U.S. Federal Sentencing Guidelines and guidance of the HHS Office of the Inspector General. The Program is responsible for promoting a comprehensive approach to compliance with healthcare laws, regulations, and policies across the UCI healthcare enterprise, including a leading academic medical center, outpatient clinics, professional services, and clinical schools. The Program develops, implements, and enforces University policy related to UCI clinical operations and supports methods of preventing and detecting inappropriate, improper, and fraudulent conduct in furnishing health care services.


Your Role on the Team

The Senior Privacy and Compliance Analyst is a vital role within the organization, responsible for ensuring adherence to privacy and compliance regulations while managing and analyzing moderate to complex reported concerns. This position plays a key role in maintaining and enhancing the organization's compliance framework, including leading investigations, developing and delivering education and training, assist in drafting, developing, revising, and implementing program policies and procedures, and conducting routine audits and ongoing monitoring as directed to maintain compliance.

As a Senior Privacy and Compliance Analyst, you will collaborate with various departments to monitor compliance and privacy activities, conduct risk assessments for privacy issues, and implement mitigation measures to ensure compliance with relevant state and federal laws and regulations. The incumbent will create and maintain database entries and run reports.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, with strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of healthcare regulations and privacy standards. This role requires someone who has excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated project management skills, self-motivated, and can navigate moderate to complex regulatory environments and provide strategic insights that support the organization's privacy and compliance objectives.

Required:

  • Strong knowledge of the methods, tools, and practices involved with regulatory compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to privacy and information security (including HIPAA, the Information Practices Act, and Confidentiality of Medical Information Act) and medical center policies.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to effectively manage time, organize competing priorities, address complex issues as they arise, and see projects through to completion on schedule.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively with managers and staff at all levels and across the organization, and with representatives of external regulatory agencies.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information, education, and instructions in a clear and concise manner, and to produce high-quality reports, documentation, and presentations.
  • Knowledge of data management and documentation methods required in privacy and compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to serve as a valuable team member and work cooperatively with others, while advocating for best privacy practices.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in teams, to gather, analyze, and report on information pertaining to the development, organization and/or completion of special projects and presentations
  • Maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, physicians, and medical center community contacts. Presents professional demeanor and is a customer service role model in interactions with internal and external customers.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Understanding of the essential elements of an effective privacy and compliance program.

Preferred:

  • Certified in Healthcare Compliance preferred.
  • Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC)
  • Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP)
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP)
