What your job will be like:

The Hall C postdoctoral fellow is expected to take an active role in the upcoming Hall C experimental program at Jefferson Lab. Hall C has successfully finished a large number of experiments with the new Super High Momentum Spectrometer (SHMS) and High Momentum Spectrometer (HMS). In the upcoming run period, Hall C will be running experiments to study additional areas of Physics and collaborate in developing a future physics program.

In this role you will:

• Work alongside users and staff scientists, taking part in the running and analysis of ongoing Hall C experimental program
• Participates in the longer-term development of new detectors for future Hall C experiments
• Interact with the Jefferson Lab user community in the development of new experimental equipment and ideas, in the analysis of data, and to help with publications
• Present experimental results at meetings and conferences.

Qualifications we require:

Education

• Ph.D. in experimental nuclear or particle physics or high energy astrophysics

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Demonstrated proficiency in programming and standard software tools and libraries used in particle and nuclear physics
• Able to communicate clearly in writing and explain work to their supervisor and others in the group
• Can work effectively with peers
• Experience with detectors used in nuclear/particle physics experiments
