Therapeutic Apheresis RN (Procedural Nursing)

Description

This full-time Therapeutic Apheresis Registered Nurse (RN) will be trained to perform Therapeutic Apheresis procedures (Plasma Exchanges, Red Cell Exchanges, Platelet depletions and Leuko-depletions) on adults and pediatric patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. These apheresis procedures are used to treat approximately 84 different "blood related" diseases such as Sickle Cell Disease, Antibody Mediated Transplant Rejections, Myasthenia Gravis, Guillan-Barre' Syndrome, and Acute Leukocytosis to name a few. Other duties include assisting with department support functions, Site maintenance/organization, and quality assurance efforts.

Position Summary

Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.

Shifts: Either 5-8's or 4- 10's

On-Call Requirement: 4-6 first calls per month.; which would include the first call weekend every 6-7 weeks. The unit also has 2nd call, that is one 2nd call weekend and then no weekend call for 6-7 weeks.
