Clark College is currently accepting applications for a full-time, permanent classified Fiscal Specialist 1 in Accounts Payable.

Position Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process disbursements to vendors for purchases made by the College. Cancel checks and accounts payable vouchers when needed.
  • Process disbursements for the college's procurement cards.
  • Maintain records of disbursements following state record retention requirements.
  • Scan and link documents using PeopleSoft Accounts payable module and the document imaging system with timely and accurate information.
  • Research and resolve problems for vendors and campus departments regarding payments, invoices, and purchase orders.
  • Assist in maintaining the imaging program used to retain records in accounts payable, including training departments on how to find documents.
  • Collaborate with purchasing staff for completing the accounts payable and purchasing monthly close
  • Interpret fiscal policies regarding payment and tax procedures, including procurement policies
  • Assist in maintaining and updating supplier information.
  • Ensure W9's are on file.
  • File checks and backup documentation.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:

Candidates will be evaluated based on application materials, including the supplemental questions and personal interview(s), and will be required to demonstrate competencies in the following areas:

  • Associate's degree AND one (1) year of full-time equivalent experience in accounting or related field. Education may be substituted with additional years of experience on a year for year basis.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Experience entering and/or calculating fiscal data using specialized accounting software.

  • The initial appointment will include a 6-month probationary period and the employee will earn permanent status after successfully completing probation.
  • This position is represented by Washington Public Employees Association.
  • Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted which includes a sexual misconduct background check as required under RCW 28B.112.080. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.

SALARY/BENEFITS:

Salary Range: $3,477 - $4,632/month | Step A-M (commensurate with qualifications and experience) | Range: 40 | Code: 151E

Successful candidates typically start at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases.
