Job Title: Welding Intern

Department: Shop

Reports to: Shop Foreman/ Shop Lead

Job Summary

A Welding Intern will work under the supervision of experienced welders to gain hands-on experience in welding techniques and processes. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates looking to start a career in welding and metal fabrication. This position offers valuable learning experience, helping the intern gain skills for a future in the manufacturing industry. A successful candidate must be able to take direction, stay organized, and demonstrate a willingness to learn.

Success Criteria & Measurement

  • Weld and Fabricate projects with assistance
  • Complete all tasks in a timely manner
  • Prioritize safety throughout the day
  • Collaborate with the team and assist in various areas as needed

Responsibilities

  • Assist in Welding Operations: Support senior welders in performing various welding tasks, including MIG, TIG, and Stik welding.
  • Prepare Materials: Inspect, clean, and prepare materials for welding. Ensure components fit accurately and make necessary modifications.
  • Operate Equipment: Use welding equipment and tools safely and efficiently, including hand tools, power drills, bandsaws, etc.
  • Quality Control: Inspect completed welds for accuracy and quality. Use measurement tools to ensure dimensions meet specifications.
  • Documentation: Maintain records of welding activities and complete necessary documentation.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and participate in safety inspections and maintenance of equipment.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with team members to maintain a clean and organized work environment. Assist other departments as needed.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a welding program or related field.
  • Basic knowledge of welding techniques and equipment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding specifications.
  • Previous experience in welding or metal fabrication is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail, good hand-eye coordination, and a willingness to learn.
