Position Summary At STERIS, the Machinist I operates manual equipment for the efficient production of quality components. You are responsible for the production of high-tolerance precision parts and should have the ability to learn how to run and troubleshoot multiple machines. The machinists are responsible for set up, run, debur, inspect, and deliver parts and tools that meet engineering and Customer requirements What You'll Do As a Machinist I Interpret technical prints. Setup, operate and adjust machining equipment for production efficiency. Monitors quality of parts produced to ensure customer requirements are met and follows procedure for handling nonconforming parts. Abides by all Company safety and health policies and procedures. Must use personal protective equipment if required. Aware of and conforms to company ISO goals and objectives and supports company ISO requirements. Aware of and actively participates in company's Lean philosophy of continuous improvement. Ensures measuring devices used to check product quality are calibrated prior to use. Maintains in-process product identification. The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of manual machines. Preferred: Ability to setup, operate and adjust manual machines. Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings.
