The Mail Center Clerk is responsible for performing a variety of functions within the Corporate Mail Center. This role involves the collection and distribution of incoming and outgoing mail and packages, operation of mail meters and inserting equipment, scanning, correspondence reconciliation, running reports, and conducting research. The ideal candidate will work closely with various business functions to ensure efficient mail center operations and support daily processing tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and distribute incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
  • Operate inserter equipment (2D, OMR, non-barcoded) for print jobs.
  • Prioritize inserting work based on established Service Level Agreements (SLA).
  • Perform manual correspondence reconciliation.
  • Operate postage meters and manage money downloads.
  • Order postal supplies as needed.
  • Maintain mail center equipment.
  • Utilize mobile handheld devices for internal tracking of delivered goods.
  • Conduct research using Send Suite Tracking.
  • Handle internal and offsite delivery of goods using a company vehicle.
  • Operate scanning equipment.
  • Administer shipping software.
  • Generate reports for postage and mailing metrics.
  • Provide support to team members to facilitate daily processing.
Skills, Abilities, Knowledge Required:
  • Demonstrated computer and keyboard skills.
  • Ability to key 35-50 words per minute with accuracy.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, particularly working with attachments.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor under stressful conditions.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to handle changing priorities, solve problems, meet deadlines, and keep work moving under adverse conditions.
  • Capacity to learn new equipment and software.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new processes and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's license, clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a technical environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • 1-2 years of work experience in an office environment with customer contact.
Preferred Experience
  • Industry knowledge of inserting equipment
  • Knowledge of USPS, UPS, and FedEx rules and regulations.
  • Courier experience
Protective's targeted salary range for this position is $41,600 to $43,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective's total compensation package for employees.
The schedule for this role is M-F, 8am to 5pm CDT. This is a fully onsite role.
