Covia is looking for a dynamic 2nd shift Dredge Operator who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at its Tuscaloosa, AL location. As a Dredge Operator, you will mainly be responsible for the safe operation of our cutterhead dredge.

The successful candidate will have the following Key Accountabilities:



  • Ensure Safety is the top priority. All activities are to be completed following MSHA regulations, Plant procedures, and Corporate Safety and Health policies.
  • Ensure compliance with quality procedures and standards


  • Communicate with key personnel at shift change, daily
  • Perform other job duties as assigned


The successful candidate will have the following Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Literacy in English, both verbally and written
  • Previous experience within sand mining operations preferred, but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to operate heavy equipment adequately


  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Swimming is a preferred skill to have
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
