Job Type Full-time Description Who we Are:CDI custom curb adapters is launching a new division called CDI HVAC Accessories and we are looking for engineers for our new products development team at our headquarters in Plymouth, Minnesota. If you like to dream up new ideas and solutions, this is a role for you! CDI is a nation-wide company with manufacturing facilities located in the suburbs of Minneapolis, Dallas, Seattle, Charlotte, and Phoenix. Today CDI leads the HVAC (Heating Ventilating and Cooling) industry providing rooftop curb adapters with the fastest lead times and the most curbs manufactured annually. FAST: Respond quickly - EASY: Don't complicate things - FUN: Be a great day makerPosition Summary: In this role you will use your knowledge of design, engineering, and manufacturing processes to create products that will help CDI expand their product offerings to their customer base. You will work to design products that will be cost competitive while built to our CDI standard of quality. You will conduct testing, work to train Production teams, perform site visits, support installations and sales calls to ensure that the products meet all requirements and then document the results and requirements for production. Responsible for using Solidworks and associated software to generate models, drawings and work instructions. Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Work with the Leadership team to define the products that will be added to the CDI product line. Generate Solidworks drawings for orders of CDI products in a timely fashion including 3D and engineering paperwork. Create complex 3D assemblies and drawings. Use of simulation and flow analysis in Solidworks. Build functioning prototypes of products to ensure proper operation prior to releasing to Manufacturing. Work with OEM sources to meet design requirements. Conduct site visits/installations and Production training during development of product and early stages of production. Work with Engineering staff to generate proper documentation for production. Strive for continuous improvement by working on ways to make job duties easier, faster, or better value to CDI. Able to create drawings from sketches and concept discussions.Strong written & oral communication skills. Able to interface with internal and external customers.Organized, on target, on time and goal oriented Required Experience: Bachelor of Science in Engineering 5+ years experience working in an engineering environment (preferably in product development) CAD Drafting - 2D and 3D Solid modeling, Assembly, Part Drawings, detailing, dimensioning 5 years experience with Solidworks Design experience sheet metal and solid modeling Preferred Experience: Solidworks certification or practical experience Sheet Metal Fabrication HVAC Industry Lean Principles Solidworks structural analysis package Airflow analysis software Controls experience a plus EEO/Affirmative Action PolicyCDI is an equal opportunity employer and prohibits harassment of any kind.
