Laboratory Assistant

• Monitors and maintains laboratory supplies in technologist work areas; restocks supplies if necessary. Checks all storage areas in laboratory for any surplus stock and distributes accordingly.
• Maintains and performs preventative maintenance on major laboratory equipment. Performs and documents quality control on laboratory equipment.
• Files routine laboratory reports, donor lab work cards and patient transfusion records.
• Prepares and stocks any necessary technical forms and specimen numbers.
• Maintains the cleanliness and tidiness of the laboratory.

To Qualify, you must have:

• An High School / GED degree required
• Skills to follow directions, read, add and subtract numbers, and make comparisons between numbers and letters, use basic equipment.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to understand and respond to simple written or verbal instructions. Incumbents must respond appropriately to instructions, questions or requests for information.
• Occasionally requires contact with patients and/or visitors, which involves courtesy.
