About the McGrath Outpatient Pavilion: Located in Hillcrest, the McGrath Outpatient Pavilion is a state-of-the-art, 250,000-square-foot medical facility designed to meet the growing healthcare needs of our region. Spanning six floors, this advanced facility is home to key clinical programs and offers specialized diagnostic, treatment, and surgical services. With a strong emphasis on cancer care, we are committed to delivering world-class medical services in a patient-centered environment.

DESCRIPTION

Under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager and the general supervision of clinic providers, this position performs duties requiring specialized knowledge and training in patient care, in accordance with the Business and Professions Code of the State of California and the regulations of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (TJC).

Responsibilities include scheduling patient appointments and updating associated patient system screens, ensuring accurate billing and payment processing, and managing equipment and supply inventory. This position also involves performing environmental care functions, including cleaning and disinfecting work areas, overseeing equipment maintenance, and ensuring proper supply management. Knowledge of medical terminology, online scheduling systems, universal precautions, and proper body mechanics is required.

The role requires strong initiative, the ability to effectively prioritize workload demands, and the capacity to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART w/in 6 months of hire date.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
  • Medical Assistant experience, preferably in a large healthcare system.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, online scheduling, universal precautions, and proper use of body mechanics.
  • Requires initiative, the ability to prioritize demands and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of MS Office Suite, including: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and be able to articulate complex ideas for all levels of audiences.
  • Knowledge and training in patient care, environmental care functions, equipment/supply management and cleaning/disinfecting the environment.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $50,321 - $62,640 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $24.10 - $30.00

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
