Spanning six floors, this advanced facility is home to key clinical programs and offers specialized diagnostic, treatment, and surgical services. DESCRIPTION

The Clinical Social Worker III provides essential psychosocial support to cancer patients and their families, helping them navigate the emotional, financial, and practical challenges of a cancer diagnosis. This position will support multiple cancer disease teams at the Hillcrest Cancer Clinic. Under the general supervision of Cancer Services leadership, and in addition to performing the full range of operational level duties, the Clinical Social Worker III is responsible for administering licensed social work services, involving comprehensive psychosocial assessments and psychosocial support surrounding crisis intervention, adjustment to illness, psychoeducation and anticipatory guidance, mental health, substance use, mandated reported, and linkages to community resources. This position also collaborates with an interdisciplinary care team to ensure a holistic approach to patient care, assisting with care coordination and advocating for patients throughout their treatment journey. The Clinical Social Worker III participates in related department functions, such as program and community education. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, emotionally charged environment, supporting patients through some of the most challenging times in their lives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Master's degree from an accredited school of social work.

  • Three (3) years of post-MSW experience.

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) issued by the state of California.

  • Must possess the knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

  • Must have proven independent thinking, decision making, problem-solving and prioritizing skills.

  • Excellent skills to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, and external constituents, both verbally and in writing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bilingual in both English and Spanish.

  • Epic experience.

  • Prior experience in oncology, palliative, hospice, and/or medical social work, with an understanding of and sensitivity to the needs of patients in these settings.

  • Experience working with vulnerable populations.

  • Utilization of research to improve clinical practice and implement evidence-based psychosocial support programs, services, and interventions.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $95,626 - $125,990 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $45.80 - $60.34

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
