Responsible for overseeing and coordinating all phlebotomy services by ensuring accurate and efficient specimen collection, maintaining high-quality standards, and promoting a positive patient experience. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions Plan and schedule phlebotomy services to meet the daily, weekly, and monthly patient and departmental needs.
-Allocate phlebotomy resources effectively to various hospital units and outpatient areas.
-Ensure compliance with hospital and laboratory policies, as well as relevant regulatory guidelines related to phlebotomy procedures.
-Develop and implement quality control measures to maintain accurate and reliable specimen collection and labeling.
-Coordinate the maintenance and calibration of phlebotomy equipment and ensure it is in proper working condition.
-Address patient concerns and inquiries related to specimen collection procedures and provide necessary support.
-Collect and maintain accurate data on phlebotomy activities, including the number of specimens collected, turnaround times, and any issues encountered.

Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License [State License] - Generic - HR Only preferred MGH Security RMV Check/Registry of Motor Vehicles Driving Report - MGB Internal preferred
Experience
Phlebotomy Experience 2-3 years required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of phlebotomy techniques, safety protocols, and specimen handling procedures.
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic health records (EHR) is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities to manage phlebotomy services efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced hospital environment.
