Shift: Full Time Weekend Days (Sat & Sun 0700-1930 plus one additional 12 hr shift per week), requires rotating holidays

Provides clinical patient care within the scope of a Registered Nurse, including assessment of condition, goal setting, and nursing actions to meet the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of the patient. Assesses, intervenes, and reassesses patient self-report and symptoms of pain promptly, utilizing an appropriate tool for assessment and reassessment. Demonstrates an understanding of medications regarding action and side effects. Report pertinent information to the appropriate individual. Educates patients and patients' chosen support person(s) about medications. Demonstrates the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions in accomplishing goals and intended patient care outcomes. Maintains the standards of nursing care and implements policies and procedures of MU Health Care and assigned nursing unit. Reports pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (i.e. resident physician, ancillary support teams) and records those observations accurately and concisely. Coordinates daily staffing assignments based on patient acuity and unit needs. Adjusts staffing levels as necessary throughout the shift to maintain safe patient care standards. Ensures smooth patient flow and efficient bed management within the unit. Coordinates admissions, transfers, and discharges of patients as needed. Responds to clinical emergencies or critical incidents within the unit. Communicates effectively with healthcare providers and other departments during emergencies. Facilitates effective communication between nursing staff, interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans and achieve optimal patient outcomes. Provides clinical guidance and support to nursing staff, including performance feedback. Serves as a resource for nursing staff regarding clinical issues and patient care decisions. Addresses and resolves patient care concerns and complaints promptly, escalating to the clinical manager or Office of Patient Experience as appropriate. Conducts assigned audits of patient charts and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards. Participates in quality improvement initiatives and unit-based quality improvement activities. Audits adherence to infection control protocols and patient safety guidelines. Participates in unit meetings, committees, and projects to contribute to unit goals and initiatives. Participates in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups. Full understanding of the attendance and punctuality guidelines and the dress code. May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
