Inova Central Laboratory currently enrolling student into their Phlebotomy Student program starting May 5, 2025! This program will be PRN: Hours will vary (Hybrid)

Job Responsibilities



  • Demonstrates an understanding of Phlebotomy principles/theory, anatomy and pathology processes by utilizing the most appropriate techniques and/or positioning for optimal specimen collection.
  • Adheres to department policies and protocols while ensuring that all specimens are acceptable for testing.
  • Explains procedure to patients/families and answers any questions to ease anxiety and ensure patient cooperation.
  • Adheres to the regulations of accrediting agencies, complies with safety regulations of the Laboratory and maintains a safe environment.
  • Demonstrates proper care and aseptic cleaning of all patient related equipment by following established department policies to ensure the quality of care provided to patients.
  • Recognizes and responds to safety issues including recognizing emergency situations and taking appropriate actions.
  • Communicates in English, both verbally and in writing, to all team members, students, patients and other healthcare workers.
  • Solves problems and applies critical thinking under normal and stressful situations.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Program schedule: PRN: | Hours will vary (Hybrid)
  • Minimum Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Years of Experience: No experience required.
