Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Cost Control Analyst is responsible for, but not limited to monitoring project budgets, analyzing financial data, and providing cost reports to ensure financial efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost control, financial forecasting, and data analysis within the construction industry.

This position is located in Birmingham, AL or Chester, VA.

Responsibilities

KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Develop, track, and analyze project budgets, costs, and expenditures.
  • Prepare cost estimates and forecasts to support project planning and financial decision-making.
  • Monitor project expenses to ensure alignment with budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to ensure accurate financial tracking.
  • Review vendor and subcontractor invoices for accuracy and compliance with contracts.
  • Conduct variance analysis and report financial discrepancies to project stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development of cost control policies and procedures.
  • Provide regular financial reports, dashboards, and presentations for management.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Use cost management software and tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy in cost tracking.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and cost management software (e.g., Procore, SAP, or similar tools).
  • Knowledge of construction project accounting and financial principles.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate financial insights effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to self-prioritize and self-start projects and task work.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in cost analysis, budgeting, or financial planning within the construction industry.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Works in an office environment with standard office equipment available.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Must have and maintain a valid state issued Driver's License with driving record that meets Saiia's risk management guidelines.
  • Certification such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or similar is a plus.
  • Experience with large-scale construction projects.
  • Familiarity with contract administration and procurement processes.

TRAVEL:

  • This position works from the office and is not required to travel regularly to meet the position's normal duties and responsibilities.
