Title: Communications Specialist
Location: Newark, NJ 07102
Duration: 3-12 months
Responsibilities:


  • Develop and implement strategic communications.
  • Collaborate with US and global leadership to elevate the visibility of senior leaders and portfolio managers.
  • Manage communications around property transaction activity.
  • Train and coach spokespeople, ensuring they are prepared for media engagements.
  • Handle crisis and issues management, including response planning.
  • Lead executive positioning and social/digital communications efforts.
  • Implement the US regional communication strategy.
  • Build and maintain stakeholder relationships to identify communication opportunities.
  • Manage strategic external communications and earned media campaigns.
  • Direct and manage relationships with the US PR agency.
  • Identify property and macro-economic trends to inform business narratives.
  • Develop communication plans to amplify business messages.
  • Establish and nurture media relationships, both traditional and non-traditional.
  • Serve as a spokesperson.
  • Identify new media spokespeople, provide training, and support media engagements.
  • Track and report key metrics demonstrating communication impact.


Required Skills:

  • 8+ years of communications experience (corporate or agency background beneficial).
  • Asset management or financial services experience required.
  • Entrepreneurial and action-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to partner strategically while also working independently.
  • Strong understanding of internal and external business environments.
  • Executive presence with the ability to advise senior leaders.
  • Existing media relationships with the capability to establish new ones.
  • Impeccable writing and editing skills.
  • Strong news judgment with the ability to identify creative news angles.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to integrate concepts and lead through influence.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in real estate investment and/or asset management.
  • Knowledge of financial markets and macroeconomic forces.
  • Ability to connect ideas from different contexts to develop innovative solutions.
  • Skilled in navigating large, matrixed organizations.
  • Flexible writing abilities for various formats (e.g., press releases, op-eds, awards submissions).
  • Strong persuasion and diplomacy skills.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to identify trends and opportunities.


Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in any field of academic rigor.
