Under general supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant position is responsible for a wide range of accounting and accounting related activities such as month-end close, accrual accounting and month-end account reconciliations, variance analysis and reporting. This position will be responsible for leases, fixed assets, and other accounting duties as assigned. Must have a solid understanding of accounting and an analytical aptitude. This individual must be able to work alone under self-direction and also work well with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues. Good communications skills are essential, as the position has contacts to various levels within the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Support month-end close by preparing leasing and capital journal entries, preparing monthly depreciation, and balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Compile leasing and fixed asset data for responsible monthly financial reporting
  • Other Accounting entries, reconciliations, and reports as assigned
  • Perform monthly variance analysis by GL account against prior periods and budget
  • Prepare year end schedules and support audit requests
  • Assist in supporting team, answer accounting related questions and assisting accounting staff as help is needed
  • Coordinate monthly rent payments with the accounts payable team
  • Identify and implement process improvements and strive to follow best practices to enhance the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of individual and team work product
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers
  • Provide coverage for team as needed
  • Have the ability to be flexible with your work schedule if it is necessary to meet deadlines or deliverables as assigned by the Accounting Supervisor, Accounting Manager, Director or Executive Management. This is a requirement during End of Month Close
  • Other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:



  • 2+ years of accounting experience
  • Proven solid Microsoft Excel skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Proven solid analytical, planning, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Proven solid attention to detail
  • Proven team player and have ability to work independently
  • Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout the Company
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and manage various work assignments in a fast paced environment



Preferred Qualifications:



  • CPA or CPA candidate
  • Public accounting experience
  • ASC 842 experience
  • Healthcare industry experience
  • Dual ledger experience

The salary range for this role is $49,300 to $96,400 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
