The Capital Management team is responsible for monitoring and reporting New York Life's capital metrics and performing various analyses to better understand short- and long-term capital generation at NYL, all of which are fundamental to NYL's mission of providing long-term guarantees to its policyholders.We work closely with business unit and corporate finance teams to calculate and evaluate internal "SRC" required capital, free surplus, and external Risk Based Capital (RBC), as well as to report on these metrics to senior management.In addition, we explore new methods to support informed decision-making through the lens of optimizing our capital position.

What You'll Do:

  • Coordinate and complete deliverables during quarterly and year-end reporting/planning cycles for capital metrics, and/or regulatory filing requirements for RBC and group capital, including:
  1. Quarterly SRC calculation and delivery to Bu's including annual SRC factor update
  2. Quarterly RBC calculation and annual RBC filing
  3. Outlook/plan development (Stat Surplus, SRC, RBC)
  • Collaborate across key stakeholder team in Corp Finance at both enterprise and BU level (Controllers, Actuarial, Investment Strategies, FP&A, etc.) on data input collection and understanding of key trends that feed into capital calculation
  • Support management reporting of capital metrics with insightful exhibits and packages to effectively communicate results and drivers
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and sensitivities on capital metrics; develop and enhance projects of RBC over short horizons
  • Partners with buisness units to collaborate on capital analytics (new buisness deployment and inforce contributions) to aid understanding and decision-making
  • Develop and implement additional efficiencies in the collection, organization and accessibility on the various data collected from around the company

What You'll Bring:

  • Minimum 2 years of working experiences
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Strong experience with Excel and its various features, including working with large data sets and pivot tables, with high attention to detail; experience with Tableau, VBA and other BI/coding tools preferred but not required
  • Strong organizational skills with a continuous improvement mindset to manage and improve existing processes
  • Show intellectual curiosity and ability to develop independent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under tight time pressure during quarterly/plan reporting periods
  • Ability to manager multiple assignments and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Familiarity with following concepts are useful but not critical: Statutory accounting, investments, and investment accounting

Pay Transparency

Salary Range:$72,500 - $107,500

Overtime eligible:Exempt

Discretionary bonus eligible:Yes

Sales bonus eligible:No

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
