This hotel is located in the exciting city of Providence and is attached to the Rhode Island Convention Center, Dunkin Donuts Convention Center, as well as the Providence Place Mall. Job Description

The Catering Sales Manager is responsible to promote, solicit and prospect the catering market segment. To merchandise as skillfully as possible the hotel function space in order to maximize revenue potential for the hotel and to ensure that the customer has the best possible meeting experience.



Responsibilities

    Responsible for prospecting all assigned catering market segments and assigned local business.
  • Achieve revenue goals as assigned by the Director of Sales & Marketing.
  • Prospect catering deployed accounts as assigned, based upon target markets.
  • Generate leads from proper prospecting, outside sales calls, networking. Track the Status of all leads surfaced.
  • Responsible for booking and detailing all In-house Weddings.
  • Must be knowledgeable about all hotel capabilities (front desk/reservations/room service/catering).
  • Merchandise function space and attain maximum room rental wherever appropriate.
  • All proposals and contracts to be delivered within 24 hours.
  • Understand and follow all guidelines relating to catering merchandising, space release and "free sell" opportunities.
  • Continuously refine product/concept offering.
  • Maintain aggressive weekly phone/site solicitation.
  • Active involvement in industry-related activities.
  • Provides hotel site inspections when necessary
  • Achieve budgeted catering revenue goals.


Qualifications

  • Degree in hospitality or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year hotel sales/catering experience.
  • Knowledge of the operations of the hotel industry.
  • Dynamic, enthusiastic, creative leader who thrives under pressure and is able to perform multiple functions and troubleshoot when needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to demonstrate warmth and empathy when engaging with others.
  • Must have proven selling, negotiating and presentation skills.
  • Requires knowledge of advanced sales techniques.
  • Highly developed customer service skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Delphi FDC, Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
