Position Overview


Essential Job Duties
The Ornametal Plant Breeding and cytogentics Program lead by Dr Hsuan Chen in Horticulture Science Department, is seeking a Postdoc Research Scholar to work on cytogenetics, including FISH, GISH, and Oligo- FISH, on Horticulture crops.

This position will assist with various ploidy manipulation projects in the program. Experiments include chromosome squash, chromosomal labeling, molecular cloning candidate probes, basic bioinformatics, and flow cytometry. The postdoc will train undergraduates, participate in outreach activities, write grants, and prepare manuscripts.

Work Schedule Monday - Friday, 40 hours week
Department Required Skills

  • PhD degree in horticulture or related field.
  • Experience in molecular biology and the use of a microscope.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
  • Cytogenetics experience preferred.
