Summary

The Data Architect will define the vision, strategy, and implementation of the company's data infrastructure, ensuring seamless data integration, governance, and accessibility. This role will drive the design and optimization of enterprise data solutions, supporting business analytics and forecasting to enhance data-driven decision making.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Defines and plans database architectures for enterprise systems.

  • Working with the Business to assess requirements, the incumbent will design and implement an Enterprise Data solution to drive data-driven decision making, optimize reporting accuracy and improve operational efficiency.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on data management, emerging technologies, and market trends, advising leadership on best practices.

  • Communicates effectively with end-users, support staff, management and other departments on all data-related initiatives.

  • Establish and maintain metadata management, data lineage, and cataloging to enhance discoverability and usability across the organization.

  • Assist other teams with the integration, implementation, and troubleshooting of projects involving local, cloud, and hybrid network services.

  • Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans to protect data assets and ensure high availability

  • Exercises independent judgment in the planning, scheduling, organizing, controlling and monitoring of data-related projects.

  • Works under general direction of senior level management. Typically manages and mentors project leaders and/or technical staff. Works on multiple, complex projects as a project leader and a subject matter expert

    Qualifications and Education Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in a technology discipline or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

    • Expert/lead technical role and a seasoned architect with solid knowledge of the current technology trends

    • Expertise in relational and non-relational databases, including Oracle, MS SQL, and modern cloud-based solutions (Snowflake, Redshift, etc.)

    • 7 to 10 years of experience with enterprise data architecture, database management, and data engineering

    • Proven experience leading a data transformation project(s) from concept to delivery

    • Deep understanding of SQL, query optimization, and performance tuning

    • 7+ years of database design and Modeling

    • 5+ years of experience in Data Warehouse\ Data Lake

    • Knowledgeable in designing and constructing data architectures, operational data stores, data marts, and lakehouses with a good understanding of AI foundational requirements

    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with management, team members and users

    • Leadership and/or management experience, including project management experience

    • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and solve problems proactively with creativity and attention to detail

    • Familiarity with API management and ETL/ELT tools

    • Strong skills in architecture, business process, information, and systems development; familiarity with data modeling, workflow, rules-based systems techniques and tools

    • Ability to interface well with CAE users and customers at all levels.

    • Ability to interface and work well with CAE Global IT Leaders and 3rd party vendors

    • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

    Preferred Skills

    • Experience designing and implementing serverless, high availability and fault-tolerant data architectures

    • Strong understanding of existing and emerging Cloud Data Technologies in the marketplace

    • Strong background in data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, Domo, etc.)

    Security Responsibilities

    Must complywith all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

    • Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.

    Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

    Work Environment

    • Duties performed in an office environment and manufacturing facility.

    • Must be able to work overtime, on and off-shifts as required.

    • The employee is on call 24x7 for the resolution of problems and issues.

    Physical Demands

    • Employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear, in person, in meetings and by telephone.

    • Manual dexterity to operate computers or other standard office equipment; and reach with hands and arms.
