DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As the Domestic Animal Health Inspector (DAHI), duties will involve collaborating with Commission and Federal veterinarians, as well as various stakeholders, to ensure compliance with Commission Rules and Regulations. Specific tasks will include gathering blood samples from horses for pre-race and post-race testing, while also handling the administrative duties necessary for submitting these samples to the laboratory, including their preparation for shipment. In the event of a domestic animal health crisis, you will play an essential role in assisting the Bureau of Animal Health by collecting diagnostic samples, performing inspections, and ensuring adherence to health standards aimed at controlling diseases in economically important domestic animals. This role requires efficient handling of animals, the use of physical and chemical restraints, the collection of tissue samples for laboratory testing, and the inspection of facilities to ensure compliance with cleanliness, quarantine, licensing, and disease control regulations.
