HDR has an opening for a FERC Senior Regulatory Specialist to join our Missouri/Kansas team and be a part of our national hydropower practice that ENR ranks Number 2 in the Top 10 firms providing services to owners and operators of hydropower plants for 2024. Our national hydropower practice is leading and providing support for hydropower projects throughout the United States. This position involves a support role on multiple FERC regulatory projects, with diverse clients and project teams. In the role of FERC Senior Regulatory Specialist, we'll count on you to:
- Responsible for supporting medium to large multidisciplinary FERC regulatory projects, involving a large project staff
- Work with multidisciplinary teams throughout the project's lifecycle (from development & initiation to close-out)
- Prepare, plan and analyze/review technical studies, regulatory documents, and similar reports/documents related to FERC processes and associated regulatory frameworks (i.e., NEPA, ESA, Section 106)
- Support several licensing, relicensing, and/or compliance projects concurrently
- Present project work in client meetings, agency/stakeholder meetings, and possibly at technical conferences
- Serve as a Project Manager to lead and track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to budget and schedule
- Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Specific knowledge of hydropower facilities and operations
- Experience with FERC licensing, relicensing, and/or compliance
- Knowledge of FERC licensing and compliance requirements and associated regulatory processes (e.g., Section 106, NEPA, Section 401, etc.)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Architectural History or closely related field
- A minimum of 10 years Archaeological experience, a minimum of 5 years experience in planning, managing and executing archeological investigations
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
- Proven ability to manage multiple field crews
- Excellent communication and client interaction skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Requires ability to travel
- Successful candidates must be familiar with field study design and documentation, regulatory framework for cultural resource management, and GIS utilities
- Must be able to handle cultural resources in a variety of geographic settings throughout the US
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
