Responsibilities

Orrick is actively recruiting federal district court law clerks nationwide to join our dynamic Intellectual Property Litigation practice upon completion of their clerkship. Judicial clerks joining Orrick directly from a clerkship on a federal court, the highest court in any state, or the District of Columbia receive a significant bonus, reflecting the value Orrick places on the clerkship experience.

The ideal candidates will have two to six years of prior law firm experience in intellectual property and/or patent litigation. Candidates must have excellent research and writing skills, ability to work independently and possess strong advocacy ability. Strong academic credentials along with entrepreneurial drive, initiative, grit, and a strong work ethic are required. A bachelor's or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is preferred. Admission to the State Bar of your office location is required.

Successful candidates may join any of Orrick's U.S. offices. The majority of our U.S. Intellectual Property team is based in our Southern California, Bay Area, and East Coast offices.


Qualifications

* Current experience as a judicial clerk for a minimum of one year, preferably for a federal court.
* Two to six years of prior law firm experience.
* A bachelor's or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is preferred.
* Candidates must be highly motivated and possess excellent academic credentials along with superior writing and communication skills.
* Membership to the State Bar of the office of the state in which the candidate expects to be located is required.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is between $260,000 and $390,000.

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
