Job Title: Solutions Architect
Clearance Required: DHS Public Trust EOD, US Citizen (Secret or above preferred)
Work Location: Hybrid; Arlington, VA (Onsite 1-2 times a week & applicant must be based within a commutable distance (1-2 hours) to Arlington, VA).

Alpha Omega is seeking a qualified Solutions Architect. The Solutions Architect position will focus on establishing an enterprise roadmap for the maturation and migration of enterprise systems from a parent Federal organization to Department resources. This includes the policies, standards, and practices, at the department and Business and Functional level to achieve consistency, quality, and protection.

Responsibilities may include managing platforms, servers, storage, and delivery and networks required to manage cloud storage and on-premises workstreams.

The Solutions Architect serves as the main subject matter expert for enterprise architecture design, governance, quality, and protection issues, and will work closely with Business and Functional area leadership and stakeholders to improve the quality and value of core data assets, respond to regulatory protection requirements as well as support the strategic requirements of the department.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Creation and management of HSI System Engineering Lifecycle (SELC)/Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) documentation.
  • Understanding of multiple architectural platforms, relationships, and overlaps in an enterprise environment.
  • Facilitate level-of-effort (LOE) estimate and staffing requirements of proposed work.
  • Update and maintain HSI's existing Confluence Knowledge Management pages.
  • Write and review standards and code while contributing to all technical discussions and architecture planning.
  • Parse existing documents and artifacts for key information and preferred language and apply it to new documentation.
  • Ensure consistency with all documentation and messaging.
  • Author and maintain clear documentation and standards for cloud operations in the organization.
  • Establish and manage enterprise system governance implementation roadmap including strategic priorities for development of information-based capabilities for the enterprise as well as migration of services.
  • Actively engage in problem solving and solutioning.
  • Work together with a team of application developers, engineers, and designers to deliver innovative technology solutions using on-premise, AWS, Azure, or hybrid cloud services.
  • Collect and define technical requirements to enable business process and integrations.
  • Ensure that solutions created by the development team adhere to technical architecture standards.
  • Stay up to date on emerging technology trends and promote an environment of learning.
  • Monitor the production environment and advance the obtainable monitoring setup as needed.
  • Sustain performance and availability of production systems in the AWS or Azure Government and Commercial cloud infrastructures to achieve optimal uptime.
  • Establish KPIs for monitoring cost efficiency, resource usage, and utilization (Ability to track business trend and use); correlate how business use cases impact cloud services utilization.


Required Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, MIS, or Information Management

Experience/Skills:



  • 5-10 years of experience required in an IT development environment.
  • 3-5 years of experience writing System Engineering Lifecycle (SELC)/Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) documentation.
  • 5 years of experience in a major services organization, with large-scale or project management and oversight experience.
  • 5 years in a Solutions Architect role, with transformation leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of industry leading data quality and data protection practices.
  • Knowledge of governance practices.
  • Knowledge of enterprise information assets and approaches related to cyber security.
  • Knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues.
  • Knowledge of change management concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change, and performance measurement system design.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure such as AWS and Azure.
  • Knowledge of data migration, data mapping, and data modeling.
  • Familiarity with microservices and composable business systems.
  • Familiarity with Advanced Analytics (AA), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Large Language Models (LLM), and Robotic Process Automation (RPA)
  • Ability to recognize internally and externally stakeholders and technical dependencies.
  • Ability to take on the role of subject matter experts (SME); a self-starter.

Salary and Benefit Information:

The likely salary range for this position is $xxx- $180,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range.
