Responsibilities

Summary
The Compliance Administrator, PREA serves as the facility's subject matter expert on all compliance and accreditation issues and oversees and coordinates a facility's compliance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA). It provides guidance and recommendations for compliance with Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) PREA standards and continuously makes facility improvements in these areas and reports them to the Facility Administrator and Corporate PREA Coordinator.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the facility's primary liaison and point person on the PREA and coordinates facility's compliance efforts and reporting requirements to comply with the Act.
  • Attend PREA training workshops, responds to inquiries, and coordinates and conducts training for facility staff on PREA as needed.
  • Prepare reports and presentations as needed.
  • Write, update, train, and oversee the implementation of Corporate and facility specific PREA related policies and procedures in order to better ensure compliance with all PREA standards and audit requirements.
  • Compile facility statistics and reports on incidents of Sexual Activity and Sexual Abuse.
  • Assist with PREA Facility assessments.
  • Prepare an annual report on findings and corrective actions for the Facility.
  • Monitor individuals who report abuse for retaliation in accordance with established PREA policy.
  • Serve as the facility's primary advocate and liaison with the DHS PSA and Corporate PREA Coordinators as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field along with three (3) year experience in a corrections, law enforcement or related capacity. Experience needs to demonstrate an understanding for the facility's operations while being able to compare them to organizational, contracting client, and other outside party's compliance and accreditation policies and guidelines. (A high school diploma or GED with five (5) years of progressive experience in corrections, law enforcement or related fields may be substituted based on management's discretion.)
  • Above average verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to make presentations to employees at all levels of the facility. Must be able to write cohesive and comprehensive documentation.
  • Ability to use tact, discretion, and capacity for obtaining the cooperation and confidence of others.
  • Ability to work independently or in collaboration with others.
  • Well organized, multi-task oriented.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written correspondence.
  • Ability to develop accurate and effective reports that may explain technical information.
  • Ability to obtain certification for training such as CPR, First Aid, and firearms.
  • Ability to maintain high tolerance to mental stress.
  • Ability to understand and carry out moderately complex oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying climatic conditions.
  • Ability to work with computers and the applicable software used by the department.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently: sit.
  • Occasionally: lift or carry, push, or pull up to 40 lbs.; bend or stoop, reach above shoulder level, drive automatic equipment vehicles, climb, walk, stand.
