Medica is a non-profit health insurance company headquartered in Minnetonka with offices in Madison and Omaha. The company is active across the heart of America and provides healthcare coverage in multiple markets. Medica is engaged in our communities through the charitable grant-making work of the Medica Foundation and active employee giving and volunteer programs.

Medica will host a 12-week, paid Internship Program. Interns will have the opportunity to network within Medica and with other Interns through weekly Lunch-and-Learns and opportunities to hear from Executives. We strive to offer a well-rounded education of the inner workings of a health plan. Each internship offers a meaningful experience and impactful projects you'll be able to discuss with future employers. At Medica, we look forward to our Summer Internship Program each year.

Department Introduction:

The Integration, Performance and Engineering team delivers tools, services and support to the broader technology organization to enrich and accelerate delivery of new business capabilities and sustain existing capabilities for Medica and our customers. Our area is divided into three primary areas including:



  • Integration Services - Develops, implements and proves out integration concepts, techniques and tools in advance of or in collaboration with business deliver teams.
  • Site Reliability - Includes teams focused on driving engineering excellence, standards, platform governance, automation, accelerators, and other measures to ensure that solutions are delivered to the organization that are high quality, high performance and supportable.
  • Operational Efficiency - Determine ways to improve and simplify processes, incorporate automation, and provide visibility to system and delivery performance for better outcomes and results.


Work Expectations:

Medica's Performance and Engineering Intern will be aligned within our Operational Efficiency space and provide support for our Integration and App Lifecycle programs. They will be involved in work related to development of performance and delivery metrics/key performance indicators, our operational dashboard, development of our Technology Onboarding and Reference Library developer site, and development of our application monitoring framework. The individual will be part of the team and will be assigned work and roles (project coordination, business and data analysis, testing support, etc) related to these and other relevant deliverables. They will provide support in defining, developing and measuring results for a variety of capabilities designed to accelerate operational activities or improve system outcomes.

Qualifications:



  • Majoring in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management/Science or related fields


This position is an Office role, which requires an employee to work from the designated office - Minnetonka, MN - , on average, 2+ times per week.
