How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Air Liquide North American (NAM) HSE Training Specialist is responsible for ensuring training content and materials that enable both instructor-led, and self-learning training on topics related to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) are aligned to company standards and Federal/State regulatory requirements. Within the scope of this role, the incumbent will have an opportunity to impact the entire organization of Air Liquide as the content they develop will be provided as the educational material for all business units (BUs) and corporate employees within North America and Canada related to HSE.

As a member of the HSE Compliance and Training team, the Training Specialist collaborates across cluster HSE, SIS, Group, and NAM BUs to develop, communicate, and implement training. Additionally, the role may expand to include other HSE departments and in person training opportunities depending on performance and/or skill sets of the incumbent and HSE department priority.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a culture of trust with all AL NAM employees by establishing and cultivating relationships through effective interactions and timely response to employee concerns and requests.

  • Work closely with NAM peers to develop North America HSE training efficiencies.

  • Demonstrates curiosity and a growth mindset, fosters an environment that supports learning, innovation, and intelligent risk-taking; and exhibits resilience in the face of setbacks.

  • Partners closely with audit and HSE support groups to align strategic goals for HSE training improvement initiatives.

  • Develop, Implement, document Job Aides, Training Presentations, and Walkthrough Videos for Health, Safety, and Environment.

  • Collaboration with Group, SIS and Business Units to align Training Matrices and Competencies for Health, Safety, and Environment.

  • Work with the HSE Specialist/Managers to gain proficiency on health, safety, and environment to the degree necessary to develop training material.

  • Monitor business HSE Training Performance and the preparation of HSE Training reports when required.

  • Foster positive working relationships across NAM organizational groups; and effectively partner and leverage strengths and capabilities for Business Unit benefit.

  • Demonstrate strategic and tactical ability through technical implementation of core HSE training and interdependence culture principles and programs.

  • Communicate effectively - verbal, non-verbal, speaking/presentation, and written. Implement, steer, and/or directly facilitate HSE training content reviews, meetings, and quarterly Key Performance Indicator trends.

  • Assist team members with their communication and deployment of training materials and act as the subject matter expert to provide expertise.

  • Identify gaps in HSE training materials and facilitate consensus to develop and implement improvement actions to eliminate those gaps.

  • Adapt communication style to different situations and audiences. Routinely demonstrates active listening skills to understand audience viewpoints

  • Actively develop, influence, implement and sustain the AL NAM HSE training strategy for compliance and conformance to AL policies, Safe Start, Safety Champion, and Behavior Based Safety Programs.

  • Support assigned site operations in alignment with the NAM HSE strategic and tactical plans in addition to the HSE service model specifications.

  • Analyze data and present solutions concerning HSE training - AL internal corporate requirements, compliance, Safe Start, Safety Champion Program, and Behavior Based Safety KPIs.

  • Develop and advance leading metrics which advance performance proactively.

  • Coordinate and be the direct contact with external vendors in support of HSE training content.

  • Coordinate with individual Business Training administrative groups, HSE Director, HSE Compliance Specialists, and Human Resources.

  • Partner with AL Canada HSE team and align programs/practices as applicable.

  • Understand the stakeholder and bridge stakeholder concerns and AL Group requirements which demonstrate alignment, conformance, and enable targeted execution internally aligned with AL principles.

  • Anticipate, apply, and communicate learnings from internal stakeholder focus groups and metrics in a strategic manner to enable AL focus, positive results, and continual improvement.

  • Drive safety, quality, and excellence in all aspects of work.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS

  • Practical understanding and experience with behavior based safety, employment programs, and hazard recognition/analysis programs.

  • Industrial gas operations experience and Electronics/semiconductor industry applications are highly desirable.

  • Management Systems and HSE support system practices in diverse bulk/specialty gas manufacturing, distribution, and laboratory facilities.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Below is a list of general working conditions:

  • Must be able to use a company provided computer;

  • Must be able to effectively communicate via telephone, email, and in-person;

  • Must be able to read electronic & hard-copy documents of varying typeface font and size;

  • Must be able and willing to travel both domestically and internationally;

  • Must be available to work in-office, OR have consistent network connectivity through a remote work location

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

With the exception of the below requirements, there are no other anticipated extraordinary physical requirements for this role such as standing for extended periods of time, lifting heavy objects on a regular basis, or completing repetitive tasks with few breaks.

  • Must be able and willing to travel as needed;

  • Must be able to talk and operate a phone for voice communication;

  • Must be able to type and build digital content through use of computer

REQUIRED EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated experience or formal Certification in Google slides.

  • Bachelors degree or related experience (adult education preferred) minimum high school diploma.

  • 1-5 years of experience, or formal Certification in Technical communication and/or Digital Training Content development for non- technical audiences.

  • 1-5 years of experience in developing and delivering training content for a population with diverse age and experience backgrounds.

  • Strong skills in organization, as well as written and verbal communication.

  • Demonstrated experience in communication development and delivery.

  • Must be comfortable in a small collaborative team, and willing to learn through peer-to-peer mentorship and challenge.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally at all levels of a large organization.
