Overview

Installs, modifies, moves, troubleshoots, repairs and dismantles machinery and equipment according to requisition documentation, layout plans, blueprints or other drawings | Prepares installation site by constructing foundations and aligns and fastens machinery to the foundation using hoists, dollies, rollers, trucks, tools, squares, rules and micrometers | Performs operational tests on newly installed, modif ied, repaired and moved machinery and equipment to ensure that it meets technical specif ications | Fabricates metal parts for prototype equipment based on drawings | Programs PLCs (programmable logic controllers)



Major Position Responsibilities

* Assists with the installation, operation, testing, and adjustment of various types of conventional or automatic machines used to produce precision parts and instruments.
* Fabricates and modifies parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
* Machines parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
* Measures, examines, and tests completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.



Basic Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

    Associate's Degree/Technical Training
  • 2-4 Years Experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Experience operating CNC Mills and/or Lathes.
  • Basic understanding G&M Codes
  • Knowledge of insert wear.
  • Ability to change your own tooling (inserts)
  • Ability to use machining measurement equipment (i.e. calipers, depth mics, etc.)
  • Mathematical skills.
  • Technical expertise.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Physical Stamina.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Leadership skills.
