Schedule The hours are between 5:30am/6am to 4pm/4:30pm, 4 x 10 hour weekdays a week. Open to discussion on set days. Job Overview The Perioperative Anesthesia Operations Coordinator is a non-clinical administrative leader responsible for supporting and overseeing the daily coordination of anesthesia coverage across the operating rooms (ORs) and procedural areas. Acting as the "air traffic controller" of the anesthesia schedule, this position ensures appropriate staffing, case flow, communication, and problem-solving in collaboration with anesthesia leadership, surgical teams, and perioperative nursing. The role supports high-efficiency surgical operations and fosters a collaborative environment to improve patient care, throughput, and staff satisfaction. Job Description Minimum Qualifications: 1.High school diploma or equivalent 2. One (1) year of experience in hospital operations, surgical services, or perioperative coordination Preferred Qualifications: 1.Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Public Health, or related field 2.Two (2) years of experience in hospital operations, surgical services, or perioperative coordination Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned. 1.Monitors and manages the daily anesthesia schedule, including staff assignments and real-time adjustments based on changes in OR schedule or staffing. 2.Collaborates with anesthesia attendings, CRNAs, and residents to facilitate coverage for 1st-case starts, add-on cases, emergent cases, and shift transitions. 3.Tracks OR utilization, room openings/closures, and turnover delays; escalate issues to appropriate clinical leaders. 4.Serves as the primary non-clinical point of contact for real-time communication between the anesthesia department and perioperative stakeholders (e.g., OR charge nurse, PACU, scheduling). 5.Attends daily OR huddles and staffing meetings; help anticipate and resolve bottlenecks in coordination with clinical and administrative staff. 6.Utilizes scheduling and tracking systems (e.g., Epic OpTime, QGenda, ORTracker) to maintain visibility into provider coverage and surgical case flow. 7.Assists with shift assignments, call schedules, and gap coverage planning in partnership with anesthesia department leadership and schedulers. 8.Maintains real-time dashboards or tools that support data-driven decision-making for staffing and case management. 9.Supports onboarding of new administrative workflows or tools that impact anesthesia operations. 10.Generates daily reports on OR throughput, anesthesia coverage, on-time starts, and other performance indicators. 11.Communicates urgent needs or conflicts proactively to anesthesia leaders and other perioperative leaders. 12.Helps implement and reinforce operational standards and best practices. Skills & Abilities: 1.Highly organized and detail-oriented 2.Excellent verbal and written communication skills 3.Ability to function under pressure and adapt to rapidly changing situations 4.Strong interpersonal skills; comfortable interacting with clinicians, administrators, and frontline staff 5.Working knowledge of hospital staffing models, scheduling practices, or OR operations preferred. 6.Familiarity with clinical workflow in the OR or procedural areas 7.Experience using scheduling systems like QGenda, Kronos, or Epic OpTime |
