We are looking for an experienced leader to serve as our Sr. Product Leader, Head of Merchant Partnerships. KeyBank's Merchant Services business is based on partnerships with best-in-class payments companies that allow us to differentiate from the competition. We have a wide range of non-exclusive partnerships ranging from startups to mature, industry leading companies and a wide range of models, with particular emphasis on the reseller model. The Head of Merchant Services Partnerships will be responsible for the evolution of the Merchant Services Product by influencing the overall Product Strategy and translating that strategy into the development and optimization of these strategic third-party relationships. This position requires strong relationship management skills, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of the payments industry.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Strategic Payments Leader:
    • Develop and execute the business strategy for Merchant Services Partnerships
    • Collaborate with senior leaders to align product strategies with business strategies
    • Drive relationships with third-party supplier enablement partners, acting as the escalation point for issues and driving resolution as required
    • Identify market opportunities and diligence trends in infrastructure and capabilities to define a product roadmap in support of growth and profitability
  • Product Development & Management:
    • Drive Innovation for Key Merchant Services
    • Support the ongoing management of Key's Merchant Services business; partner with business development teams to acquire clients and drive revenue growth
    • Identify trends, changes, or shifts in client and competitor behaviors, and regulatory and competitive forces that impact solutions
    • Stay informed about industry trends and competitive landscape to identify opportunities for new partnerships and collaborations.
    • Oversee the end-to-end process of launching new products and 3rd party relationships
    • Develop and manage the Merchant Referral vs Re-Seller Strategy for Key Merchant Services
  • Leadership & Management:
    • Sustain a collaborative and inclusive culture that fosters innovation and continuous improvement
    • Guide team members to ensure the successfully delivery of product initiatives; willingness to operate as a "player-coach" as needed
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Effectively communicate product vision, strategy, and performance to leaders and core stakeholders
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with partners, vendors, and industry experts

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or higher required, or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 10 years of strategy, product, or related financial services, consulting, or technology experience in a Merchant Services setting
  • Experience with product roadmap development including deploying, developing, and testing new product capabilities
  • Experience commercializing Merchant reseller relationships
  • High technical acumen including understanding of payment processing, software development, and the use of APIs, and other data transmission methods
  • Able to work in a matrixed organization with colleagues across various reporting structures
  • Able to build and sustain relationships within all levels of a prospects and/or client's organization from technical team leads to the executive level
  • Superior influencing, consulting, and communication skills (both oral and written), with the ability to successfully interact with and relate complex technical information to less technical audiences in common business terms
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities.
  • Ability to provide executive level updates on project progress and appropriately address concerns / risks
  • Ability to problem solve and overcome challenges

Preferred QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience with Merchant Services management or similar roles tied to payment processing

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary rate of $200,000-$225,000 annually. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.

Key has implemented a role-based Mobile by Design approach to our employee workspaces, dedicating space to those whose roles require specific workspaces, while providing flexible options for roles which are less dependent on assigned workspaces and can be performed effectively in a mobile environment.
