Role Description

We are looking for an individual to help us develop our core technology through the processing of experimental cell assembly and maintenance requests. In this role, you will work as a part of our Subscale Build Operations team performing R&D battery builds, as well as supporting failure analysis efforts including battery cell teardowns, failure data collection and post-teardown sample preparation/processing. This role will require work in the lab and ability to collaborate with a cross-functional team to ensure high quality testing and results. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and be part of the growth of a fast-moving company with breakthrough technology and an incredible mission!

What you'll do:
  • Inspect, organize, and assemble components and battery cells using Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Manage parts and consumable inventories for standard builds.

  • Escalate non-conforming components and processes to a manufacturing engineer or supervisor.

  • Perform hands-on lab work to support battery cell teardowns and failure analysis.

  • Document teardown findings and communicate results to Engineering teams for battery product design improvements.

  • Perform post-teardown sample preparation and processing work for material characterization critical to failure analysis.

  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve build processes and techniques, contributing to a culture of innovation and operational excellence.

  • Organize and maintain lab space, and be a champion for safety in the lab.

What you'll bring:
  • 2+ years experience as a technician or in a hands-on technical role with materials, mechanics or battery products.

  • Proven ability with work that requires attention to detail, such as assembly or similar technical tasks.

  • Strong teamwork skills and collaborative mindset.

  • Experience in working with handheld power tools to assemble/disassemble products and components in an industrial environment is a plus.

  • Detail oriented, a proactive self starter with excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Comfortable working with chemicals and wearing PPE.

  • Proficiency with software productivity tools such as Slack, JIra, Asana and Google Suite.
