We are looking for a Main Line Telephone Operator to assist in delivering outstanding support and maintaining seamless communication. As the first point of contact for individuals calling, you will play a crucial role in representing APL with a friendly, professional, and helpful demeanor. As a member of our team, you'll contribute to enhancing the overall experience by efficiently managing incoming calls and directing them to the appropriate departments. You will be joining a dedicated team of professionals who prioritize collaboration and excellence in every aspect of our work. We are passionate about providing high-quality service and maintaining strong relationships with those we work with.

As a Main Line Telephone Operator...

  • Your primary responsibility will be to manage the main phone line, directing calls to the appropriate individuals or departments.
  • You will respond to inquiries and provide relevant information, ensuring callers are connected to the right party.
  • You will use a computer to access and provide phone directories, email addresses, locations, events, and other essential APL information.
  • You will maintain and update the contact directory for the operator position.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate a friendly and approachable attitude
  • Exhibit strong customer service skills
  • Are able to effectively multitask
  • Are proficient in using basic computer applications (email, internet)
  • Hold US Citizenship or permanent resident status, as required to access APL's facilities and networks, subject to applicable laws.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
