Position Summary: The Utility position provides bench strength across the various manufacturing departments. This position requires flexibility and adaptability on a consistent basis and assists with the training and development of new and existing team members. Monitor production flow and efficiency in the department assigned, identify and address any issues and/or report them to management for resolution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist in the processing of meat products to include operating equipment, stuffing and hanging sausage, weighing product, and verifying correct labels and dates are on products handled.
- Operates fork lifts, and hand lifts to move product from one area to another.
- Disassemble and assemble equipment for sanitation.
- Learn and retain thorough knowledge of procedure and use of sausage room equipment.
- Follow all safety, food safety, and company policies and procedures.
- Ensure quality of products is maintained and verify correct label, weight, and date information is on products being handled
- Report any process or equipment problems to supervisor.
- Responsible for housekeeping, cleanliness, and sanitary conditions within the department.
- Report work related injuries and illnesses immediately to supervisor.
- Assist with the training and development of new and existing team members.
- Conduct quality assurance checks and alerts management to any issues.
- Keep product at required workstations for other workers to package.
- Learn and retain thorough knowledge of packaging processes and use of equipment
- Assist with operating metal detection equipment
- Report materials and labor to jobs through computer software program.
- Performs various tasks in the packing department involving operating equipment and packing, weighing, and labeling products for distributors.
- Ensure that machinery, equipment, floors, walls, and ceilings are properly cleaned and sanitized according to schedule.
- Load, cook, and smoke, product from smoke ovens.
- Perform various product checks and record time and temperature on HAACP records.
- Verify chill and temperature log for HAACP record
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: * To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Basic math skills required. * Must be proficient with computer programs such as MS Office, and various ERP systems. * High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Physical Requirements: * Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. * Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. * Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced production environment. * Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 lbs. * Must be able to stand for long periods of time and work in wet and cold (32-40) environment.
