Overview

We are seeking a Design Engineer to support our Washington, DC office. Candidate will assist in the review and analysis of UxV designs, support engineering studies, and help develop technical documentation to inform future requirements and acquisition decisions. Candidate's responsibilities include providing technical input across mechanical, structural, and electrical systems, and supporting the integration of UxV systems to meet mission needs.


What will you do?

  • Review and analysis of UxV designs, addressing technical issues that arise during design and construction, and in the development of the future UxV requirements and acquisition documents.

  • Provide engineering support as requested by the-customer to support technical and project decisions and maintain technical configuration control.

  • Perform engineering analyses of customer mission and performance requirements to define UxV attributes in engineering terms.

  • Perform engineering studies leading to the allocation of UxV attributes to UxV systems in terms of design direction, performance, configuration, space and weight, and arrangement.

  • Perform design and engineering studies to identify the degree of UxV systems integration required to meet the mission requirements.

  • Provide Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) of designs in the form of technical products such as drawings, conceptual and product engineering designs, calculations, schematics, reports, etc.

  • Provide technical assistance with UxV design, and integration, related to subject areas including machinery, hull form, hull strength, propulsion, electrical systems, auxiliary systems, hydrodynamics, sea keeping and survivability, stability, structures, arrangements, habitability, outfitting, lifesaving and mooring systems, cargo handling systems, unmanned systems, aviation, C4I, combat systems, autonomy, computer science, electronics and other technical areas as necessary.

  • Review and analysis as requested of the developing design to ensure that the UxV is functionally balanced and integrated in terms of distribution and location of functions, seaworthiness, mission suitability (effectiveness, survivability), and performance.

  • Identify UxV system characteristics and capabilities of alternative system configurations


Do you have what it takes?

Required skills:

  • 1 year - 4 years of relevant experience

  • Professional experience in mechanical, structural or electrical/electronic design.

  • Must have active DoD Secret Clearance and ability to sustain one

Preferred skills:

  • Bachelor's level degree in an Engineering discipline or Industrial Design.

  • Professional experience in mechanical, structural or electrical/electronic design for Navy shipbuilding and defense systems.

Pay Range: VTG's estimated starting pay range is $60,000-$82,799 annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.

This position is contingent upon contract award
