FUNCTION: Responsible for leading Manufacturing Engineering to optimize production efficiency, quality, and cost through process improvement, DFM/A, and cross-functional collaboration.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervise Manufacturing Engineering staff and other personnel as assigned.
  • Work with team to create individual performance expectations; provide ongoing feedback regarding progress toward established goals and track progress; provide employee coaching and training; recommend outside training opportunities.

  • Coordinate and facilitate interdepartmental processes to obtain the most productive use of company resources.
  • Drive continuous improvement necessary to increase productivity, increase product quality and consistency, or to control costs.
  • Analyze manufacturing data (labor, material, defect reports, tooling costs) to determine manufacturing improvement priorities and strategies.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to establish quality systems and procedures that ensure all processed components conform to requirements.
  • Enhance manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, equipment layout and establishing and implementing manufacturing plans
  • Assist in the planning, development and execution of other site manufacturing operations and travel as required to support successful operations.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Engineering and Manufacturing personnel to improve design for manufacturability and to train and update engineering on current manufacturing skill levels.
  • Develop and implement plans necessary to maintain/improve company facilities, properties, and equipment. Specify, research and requisition needed items. Support root cause investigations, 5S, and lean initiatives.
  • Develop guidelines and procedures to assure employees are properly trained in procedures and work instructions to ensure consistent work methods, which will result in known product quality.
  • Lead and facilitate problem solving and cross functional teams to resolve product/process issues for manufacturing processes and products
  • Assist in supplier selection and validation of supplier process capabilities and process controls.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
