BlueHalo is hiring a Technical Writer/Editor to support the Joint Navigation Warfare Center (JNWC) contract, you will be a part of our team's efforts to empower the Department of Defense's navigation warfare (NAVWAR) mission ensuring positioning, navigation and timing superiority. Our mission is to provide combatant commanders and joint force commanders with subject matter expertise on planning and conducting NAVWAR by providing knowledge of friendly and enemy NAVWAR Order of Battle and PNT-related successes and threats.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:



  • Reviewing content of technical engineering documentation for quality.
  • Producing technical engineering and scientific illustrations for presentations and/or publication, as appropriate to the requirements.
  • Ensuring that documents follow the style laid out in the style guide.
  • Creating documents for publication both within the organization and externally using input provided by team members, stakeholders, research sources, and other content providers.
  • Writing a variety of technical articles, reports, brochures, and/or manuals for documentation for a wide range of uses.
  • Integrating graphics, text, and other media to create presentations and publications.
  • Coordinating production.
  • Proofreading and editing correspondence, documents, memoranda, presentations, and other publication materials to ensure they conform to DoD standards for spelling, grammar, and style.
  • Assisting content providers in identifying the appropriate medium and format for presentations and publications.
  • Ensuring content is of high quality and conforms to standards.
  • Overseeing preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. Conducting quality review of materials.
  • Responsible for producing, proof-reading, editing, and formatting technical documentation to include design specifications, manuals, on-line help, procedures, plans, and proposals.
  • Editing and formatting information for consumption through various media channels to include printed materials, scripted voice content, email, websites, and other electronic access points.
  • Gathering information, interviewing subject matter experts, and conducting other research in order to convey technical material in a concise and effective manner.


Clearance:



  • Must possess an active SECRET security clearance


Requirements:



  • 5 years (min) of relevant experience
  • Prefer prior editing experience with DoD or government agencies
  • BA/BS in English, communications, journalism, computer science, web design, engineering, or a related field
  • Prefer Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC), Certified Technical Professional (CTP) or other equivalent
