Drill Site Manager Key Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all personnel are working in a safe and professional manner and according to laws, rules, regulations, and standards.
- Ensure all drill site personnel understand project expectations, daily work plan, and the drilling plan through communication tools such as pre-spud meetings, 12 Hour Game Plans, safety meetings, daily review meetings and tailgate meetings.
- Ensure that risks are understood and managed adequately in well design and on site operations.
- Actively participate in Safety Meetings to support the HES focus, initiatives, and plans with the contractors on site to ensure Oxy and all on location are aligned and working to a clear plan and within everyone's Safety Management System.
- Recognize and reward good behavior and performance to promote continuous improvement and learning of the site team.
- Ensure that all equipment meets proper specification and is "Fit for Purpose" to do the job safely and efficiently.
- Ensure that information is accurately captured and transferred to the office staff.
- Document and investigate all incidents and serious near misses.
- Review and approve all service provider invoices for accuracy on deliverables.
- Provide input into well designs and procedures during development, risk assessments, and technical service provider selections.
- Implement risk assessment mitigation controls and monitor Management of Change.
- Participate in risk assessments and peer reviews to ensure appropriate project planning.
General Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage all drilling operations on the site to ensure timely and efficient implementation of the drilling program.
- Coordinate the logistics of all material, equipment, and personnel required to implement the drilling program.
- Effectively coordinate with the Drilling Superintendent and Drilling Engineer on progress, problems, solutions, recommendations, and MOCs (Management of Change) related to well programs, operations, and procedures.
- Ensure that information is accurately captured and communicated or transferred to the office staff.
- Ensure all required work documentation is correct, up to date and delivered timely and appropriately.
- Consult with office staff on project plans, operational issues and utilization of appropriate technology.
- Assist and supports engineers in the office when needed.
- Measure operational performance against established goals and objectives.
- Identify opportunities, recommend actions, and execute approved procedures for continuous improvement
- Ensure proper standard of safety performance is set by leading by example.
- Ensure adherence at the drill site or area of responsibility to all Company, government (Regional and local), and industry standards (Example: API, OSHA,) policies, procedures, and guidelines associated with safe drilling practices
- Conduct, lead, and participate in Daily Pre-Tour Safety Meetings, Pre-job Safety Meetings, JSAs, and Drills. Accurately and promptly report accidents, incidents, near-misses, investigations, spills, Safe Work Observations, and equipment safety inspections.
- Lead rig site meetings as necessary.
- Jointly own the Drilling Program with the Drilling Engineer and support the Drilling Engineer on drilling procedures by supplying input on operational concerns and considerations.
- Provide input into well designs, procedure development, Risk Assessments, plans, and specifications for service provider selections.
- Actively participate in rig selection and evaluation inspections as needed.
- Participate along with Drilling Engineer in developing and revising technical specifications for service provider selections and assigned contracts.
- Adhere to all regulatory requirements associated with field operations and reporting.
- Conduct regular planned general inspections of the rigs such as the daily walk around and pre-spud inspection as per checklists and Rig Inspection guideline.
- Ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.
- Communicate and coordinate with production and construction personnel or other entities for simultaneous operations and other areas of common interest.
- Serve as On Scene Commander in Emergency Response activities.
- Lead onsite emergency response activities.
- Participate in peer reviews and risk assessments in other Business Units when requested.
- Assist in mentoring, training and development of personnel as required.
- Actively participate in Management of Change.
- Take an active role in development and maintenance of Business Unit PSPGs.
- Propose Improvements to WWDC Procedures and Policies.
