Job Summary The Sr Designer II, Printed Wiring Board will be a part of the R&D engineering team, directly contributing to the design and implementation of the electronic hardware utilized in our medical devices. Duties & Responsibilities
- Create detailed printed wiring board layout designs based on engineering schematics and requirements.
- Optimize printed wiring board layouts for performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Generate and maintain detailed documentation for all printed wiring board designs.
- Generate mechanical 3D models, Fabrication and Assembly Documents (Gerber files, CAM data, net lists, stack-up details, etc.) for release.
- Communicate with vendors and manufacturers to ensure design feasibility and production quality.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and technology trends.
- Assist design engineers with schematic updates.
- Conduct design reviews and provide technical feedback to improve printed wiring board design processes.
- Interface with CAD tool vendor to address bugs, software updates and maintain licenses.
Minimum & Preferred Qualifications and Experience Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of industry experience in PWB design
- Experience in rigid and flexible circuit board designs
- Experience with PWB/Schematic CAD design software tools.
- Familiarity with analog low noise, high-speed and RF PWB design principles.
- Strong understanding of IPC standards for PWB design and fabrication.
- Experience with multi-layer/multi-lamination PWB designs and complex circuitry.
- Experience with high density interconnects and microvia fan out
- Proficiency in CAD and CAM software for PWB manufacturing.
- Experience with CBA 3D mechanical modeling.
- Experience with Agile PLM or similar life cycle management tools
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability (DFM) principles.
- Attention to detail and precision in design work.
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with teams.
- Ability to work onsite Monday - Friday in Irvine, CA office.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in using PWB design software like PADS or Altium Designer.
- Knowledge of signal integrity and power integrity analysis using tools like hyperlynx.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with database maintenance is a plus
- Experience in Rigid-flex printed wiring board designs
- Advanced knowledge of stray capacitance, inductance, and resistance effect on routing.
- Expert at power plane routing.
- Understanding electronic components and circuit theory
Education An Associate of Arts or Science degree in Electronic Engineering field highly desirable. Compensation: The anticipated range for this position is $110,000 - $145,000. Actual placement within the range is dependent on multiple factors, including but not limited to skills, education, and experience. This position also qualifies for up to 10% annual bonus based on Company, department, and individual performance.
