Human Resources (HR) Senior Operations Specialist

Working closely with the HR Operations Director, the HR Senior Operations Specialist will play a critical role in in supporting both the operational and compliance functions within HR. The operational focus of this role will consist of providing guidance and assistance in the prioritization and completion of daily operational tasks, along with resolution of inquiries received by the centralized HR operational team. Compliance responsibilities will center around ensuring the organization adheres to internal HR policies and processes, along with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulatory requirements.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $85,000

The base pay offered for this position may vary within the posted range based on your job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Operational Responsibilities:



  • Monitor and prioritize operational requests and inquiries received through ServiceNow and shared email accounts related to employment transactions, unemployment claims, employment verifications, along with active and former employee inquiries.
  • Act as point of contact for complex and escalated requests and inquiries, providing guidance in determining appropriate actions for resolution.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of HR operational practices and procedures to successfully provide situational specific guidance to HR colleagues and organizational leaders.
  • Assist in building the HR operations team as the primary resource and first point of contact for employee inquiries related to HR policies, processes, and general HR topics.
  • Assess and propose operational process improvements to drive efficiency
  • Actively establish and maintain relationships with other shared service functions across the organization to encourage and build collaboration to streamline cross functional services to support business needs.


Compliance Responsibilities:



  • Conduct assessments, in partnership with HR Leadership and Legal, of existing HR practices and programs to determine risk profile. Assist in the development of an evaluation of identified risks and options for procedural or programmatic changes to mitigate or resolve organizational exposure.
  • Monitor and identify new and amended federal, state, and local employment laws. Analyze and propose, in partnership with HR leadership and Legal, guidance and action steps to implement or modify human resource procedures and systems.
  • Conduct routine audits of adherence to organizational compliance procedures to meet known federal, state, and local regulations and propose relevant procedural modifications to address audit findings, as needed.
  • Develop and maintain organizational specific compliance and federal, state, and local regulatory resources, along with informational communications.
  • Distribute and monitor acknowledgment of mandated employee notices related to state and local specific benefits eligibility and employee rights and maintain appropriate organizational documentation related to utilization.
  • Coordinate process to pull and validate data reports to develop annual submission of EEO-1 and VETS 4212 filings, along with assisting in annual activities to support the generation of annual Affirmative Action Plans and responding to OFCCP audits.
  • Identify, develop, and present specific regulatory training and guidance programs for organizational personnel.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in human resources or other related field
  • Five or more years in the field of human resources within an operations or generalist capacity
  • Thorough understanding of federal and state employment laws, regulations and guidelines
  • Proven ability to research and interpret employment laws and regulatory changes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


Preferred Qualifications:



  • One to three years of experience supporting organizational compliance with employment laws and regulations
  • Prior organizational risk responsibilities preferred
  • Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
  • Experience developing proposals and presentations for leadership
  • Focus and execution on innovation and process improvements
