Job Overview

The Senior Buyer at Systems Control has significant responsibility for managing supplier relationships, contract administration, and execution of strategic sourcing activities for indirect goods and services.This position is responsible for the category management, sourcing, supplier selection, and preparation and issuance of purchase orders for goods and services that are used to support our corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility.The Senior Buyer will also oversee the organization and execution of all aspects of purchasing and distribution while taking into account cost-effective solutions.

A Day In The Life

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide requested goods and services and identify strategic sourcing opportunities
  • Manage supplier relationships including contract management and price negotiation to obtain best possible value
  • Handle correspondence concerning over-shipments, delivery shortages, changes in quantity, delivery dates, and prices and report such changes to the interested parties in a timely manner, as required
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal customers while supporting office and productions needs
  • Manage process to identify and resolve quality or delivery problems, including expediting and facilitating orders as required
  • Suggest cost savings from data gathered in the form of standardizing and proposing alternate materials and/or service providers
  • Lead purchasing activities including data gathering, preparing quote/proposal packages (RFQ/RFP), evaluating quotes, making supplier recommendations, and executing contracts
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain Management, Senior MRO Buyer, and Buyer Lead for purchasing activities and follow established purchasing policies and procedures
  • Monitor supplier performance by ensuring that products and services are delivered as scheduled and meet specifications; maintaining appropriate files and records of meetings with suppliers to ensure suppliers are aware of their performance

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management
  • Minimum of five years of purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite and ERP software (Syteline preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and use competitive costing information effectively
  • History of executing category management and strategic sourcing initiatives
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Proven track record of managing supplier relationships
  • Process improvement experience utilizing Lean Techniques
  • Effective organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to work on numerous issues/projects simultaneously
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication, listening and presentation skills
  • Efficient organization and time-management skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
