Compensation & Benefits: Our base salary is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The starting base salary range for this position is listed below. Actual starting salary will be based on a variety of factors including experience, skill set, education, performance, license/certifications, business needs, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Position Summary The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for proactively managing assigned production materials and services. This includes identifying and developing strategic supplier relationships, as well as managing existing supplier partnerships. The role focuses on developing and executing sourcing strategies, driving cost management initiatives, and leading continuous improvement efforts in areas such as delivery, quality, and lead times. Additionally, the Strategic Sourcing Manager will support production operations and contribute to product development by identifying and leveraging technology advancements. Primary Responsibilities Strategic Sourcing & Cost Optimization:
- Create and analyze Request for Quotes for assigned production materials with key suppliers.
- Identify material requirements from production specifications, operational schedules, and engineering quality requirements.
- Determine the most cost efficient and reliable materials needed for the manufacturing process.
- Improve gross profit by re-sourcing exiting items. Identify and drive opportunities for cost savings.
- Lead cost-down initiatives including outsourcing, reshoring and insourcing.
- Analyze total cost of ownership, including direct and indirect costs, to drive cost reduction initiatives.
- Champion supplier improvement initiatives to address performance or capability gaps in delivery, quality and capacity.
- Conduct market research to identify trends, new suppliers, and potential risks in the supply base.
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Work closely with operations, engineering, quality, procurement, and finance teams to ensure alignment of sourcing strategies with overall manufacturing and business objectives.
- Ensure timely supply of materials and services to meet production schedules while maintaining inventory levels and minimizing costs.
- Provide regular reports to senior leadership regarding sourcing performance, savings, and supplier performance metrics.
Risk Management, Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks associated with supply chain disruptions.
- Identify potential supply chain risks and create contingency plans to ensure business continuity.
- Monitor and manage lead times, production schedules, and inventory levels to avoid production delays.
- Leverage data and analytics to identify trends, measure supplier performance, and report on the effectiveness of sourcing strategies.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track sourcing and supplier performance.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for senior leadership, providing insights into sourcing activities and results.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned or required by management.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Certifications: Professional certifications like CPSM, CSCP, etc. is a plus.
- Position-specific Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of developing and executing of sourcing strategies, cost modeling, and procurement processes.
- Strong business acumen and fundamental understanding of business financials and performance indicators.
- Strong project management skills to organize or charter projects and effectively lead cross-functional teams to develop and execute projects.
- Experience with ERP and procurement software tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Ariba, etc.).
- Excellent customer focus, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of market trends, pricing dynamics, and supplier capabilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple functions within the organization.
- Computer/Technological: Strong knowledge and demonstrated skills in using MRP software and Microsoft Office tools to deliver succinct presentations, well drafted reports, and meaningful data analytics.
- Language: Professional written and spoken fluency in English required.
- Schedule: Generally, Monday to Friday, full time.
- General Working Conditions: Be able to work in an office environment as well as on the production floor.
- Travel: Be able to travel up to 5% as needed.
