In addition, they are using their expertise ininterdisciplinary research centers across the university.

Carnegie Mellon University's department of Mechanical Engineering is searching for a Research Assistant to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. In this role, you will be responsible for work on additive manufacturing controlled by AI and ML techniques. Specifically, you will focus on additive manufacture of electronic devices for biomedical and energy storage applications and such other tasks that are assigned to you.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out research in additive manufacture of electronic components such as batteries and biomedical devices
  • Use AI for advanced manufacturing process control
  • Develop LLM programs to extract troubleshooting instructions
  • Characterize the repeatability and reproducibility of the parts fabricated by additive manufacturing and optimize the process to reduce the same
  • Manage day-to-day lab operations and ensure EHS compliance
  • Prepare weekly reports to the PI regarding research progress
  • Prepare quarterly reports on research progress

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree required with courses on Mechanical Engineering and AI/ML
