Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sr. II Engineer - Microsoft 365 Administrator.
In this role, the Microsoft 365 (M365) Administrator will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and maintaining our M365 services, including Exchange On-Premises, Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams. This role requires a strong understanding of Microsoft Graph and PowerShell to automate tasks, optimize performance, and ensure the security and compliance of our M365 environment. This role demands deep expertise in M365 messaging, automation, and hybrid environments, as well as experience with journaling, archiving, and security platforms such as Veritas and Proofpoint.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain Exchange On-Premises and Exchange Online environments, ensuring seamless email communication and collaboration.
- Administer OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams, providing user support and troubleshooting issues.
- Utilize Microsoft Graph and PowerShell to automate tasks, generate reports, and enhance administrative efficiency.
- Monitor and maintain the overall health and performance of M365 services, addressing any issues promptly.
- Implement and enforce security policies and compliance measures to safeguard organizational data.
- Support and maintain Proofpoint solutions for email security, DLP, and threat protection.
- Manage and support M365 compliance features including DLP policies, eDiscovery, audit logs, sensitivity labels, and retention labels.
- Administer OneDrive, SharePoint Online, and Teams, with a focus on collaboration, external sharing, and lifecycle management.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell and Microsoft Graph API to streamline administrative tasks and generate operational reports.
- Support M365 migrations (on-prem to cloud, tenant-to-tenant) and collaborate with project teams on adoption and deployment initiatives.
- Monitor health service and respond to alerts and incidents in a timely, structured manner.
- Perform regular audits and assist in disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Act as a subject matter expert for M365 messaging and collaboration solutions and provide tier-3 support.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful deployment of M365 services and features.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end-users, addressing their queries and concerns.
- Conduct regular system audits and perform disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Stay up to date with the latest M365 updates, features, and best practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Typically requires 7 or more years of experience and BA/BS degree or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert certification.
Experience with hybrid Exchange environments.
Experience as Product specialist with focus on adoption, deployment and management.
Microsoft 365 Certified: Azure Developer Associate
Experience with M365 migration tools (e.g., Quest, BitTitan, ShareGate)
Knowledge of Azure AD Connect and identity synchronization
Familiarity with third-party backup and archiving tools for M365
Exposure to ITIL-based change and incident management processes
Hands-on experience with Proofpoint Email Protection, DLP, and/or TAP.
Deep knowledge of mail flow, transport rules, MX/DNS records, connectors, and hybrid Exchange configurations.
Proven experience as a Microsoft 365 (M365) Administrator or similar role.
Solid understanding of Microsoft Compliance Center tools and policies
Experience with OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams administration
In-depth knowledge of Exchange On-Premises and Exchange Online administration.
Proficiency in managing OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams.
Strong scripting skills with Microsoft Graph and PowerShell.
Familiarity with M365 security and compliance features.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $97,589.95 - $99,306.10 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
