About the Job

This is a 14-month temporary posted position.

*Duties/responsibilities:
-Develop control systems related to autonomous driving, implement related software on vehicle and conduct experiments (50%)
-Prepare and supervise experiments conducted by/for graduate students (20%)
-Prepare reports and presentations and interact with sponsors, including conducting experimental demonstrations as needed. Prepare for and participate in lab/research meetings (20%)
-Other duties as assigned (10%)

Qualifications

*Required qualifications:
-BS/BA in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, plus at least five years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least nine years.
-Experience with implementing and debugging code in software systems that include ROS, C++, Python.
-Experience with experimentally implementing control systems for autonomous driving on full-scale vehicles.
-Experience with working on automatic steering control systems, including experience with implementing and demonstrating such systems on full-scale vehicles.
-Experience working with data from sensors such as 3D Lidar, camera images, radar, RTK corrected GNSS, and other autonomous vehicle instrumentation.
-Capable of working independently and completing all the tasks required to satisfy sponsors, including conducting experimental demonstrations, data analysis and presentations about system performance.
-Implementing control systems for autonomous driving on full scale vehicles.

*Preferred qualifications:
-Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, and 3 years of related experience
-Good research and analysis skills in the intelligent transportation domain
-Mathematical and measurement skills
-Experience writing scientific publications
-Good teamwork skills
-Excellent attention to detail
-Great verbal and written communication skills

About the Department

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has an internationally recognized faculty, and is part of the College of Science and Engineering, the highly interdisciplinary college of engineering, physical sciences, and mathematics.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $36.06/hr - $36.54/hr; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment

Position Type: Civil-Service & Non-Faculty Labor Represented Staff
