ABOUT THE ROLE

If you are looking for an opportunity to grow your knowledge base and progress your career in package engineering, SC Johnson has an exciting opportunity as a Senior Associate with our North America Air Care team. This role will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of subject matter experts and report to an R&D Manager.

As Senior Associate, you will contribute to the technical development of new or revised packaging materials & products. Your work will consist of qualifying new products/packages, line extensions, and leading technical tasks related to different business needs driven by organizational goals and market requirements. You will participate on cross-functional teams and lead the end-to-end packaging development of projects including primary, secondary, and ecommerce packaging. You will have a crucial role in providing your technical expertise to ensure that the key project objectives and deliverables are met.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create robust specifications for packaging components, finished goods, and pallet factors, along with accurate Bill of Materials setup.

  • Collaborate with project managers and cross functional teams to build project timeline, deliver key milestones, provide input on technical risks and mitigation plans,

  • Focus on growth, business continuity, sustainability projects, following the technical processes and procedures in place.

  • Complete all technical deliverables properly and on-time.

  • Complete performance and compatibility testing in support of packaging component changes.

  • Develop validation and line qualification plans, perform lab tests, and document results in technical reports.

  • Evaluate and correct package-related issues to maintain production schedules and product quality.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in packaging engineering, packaging science or other relevant engineering disciplines and 2+ years of product/packaging development experience, OR an Advanced degree.

  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS

  • Experience and technical competency in primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging design

  • Expertise in multiple packaging disciplines such as aerosols and liquids packaging, dispensing systems, materials, closures, manufacturing line requirements, plastic molding techniques, and/or product/environment compatibility.

  • Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and BOM.

  • Proactive problem solver and results driven, with ability to anticipate risks and communicate mitigation recommendations.

  • Strong team player.

  • Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written presentation, including effective storytelling to the non-technical individual.

  • Comfortable working in complex and ambiguous situations.

  • Experience with AI (Artificial Intelligence).

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • This position works in an office environment and will be located at our Sam's campus in Mt. Pleasant

  • Full time days, Mon thru Fri, business hours

  • Remote work is available once a week for eligible employees

  • Ability to lift 10 - 40 pounds

  • This role is eligible for domestic relocation
