GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

Maintains continuity of supplies to manufacturing operations and supports the company supply chain in the procurement and scheduling of cost efficient and quality materials.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Identify vendors for preferred vendor recommendations and negotiate best value with suppliers and perform materials quotation for prices and delivery
  • Manage procurement, storage, planning and distribution of materials to maintain a quality supply chain
  • Identify and reduce long lead times in the system by utilizing material strategies with suppliers
  • Review MRP exceptions, purchase order status, and order action reports to determine and assign priorities
  • Support contracts and sourcing projects for new bids
  • Minimize obsolescence costs by working with engineering, production and marketing for alternate solutions
  • Resolve order discrepancies, support material return for damage and/or inspection failure and negotiate settlements with suppliers
  • Ensure timely delivery of products to support manufacturing
  • Develop new, better or alternate sources for continuous improvement
  • Must be at assigned worksite during assigned hours 100% of time; less PTO, FML/STD/LTD
  • Negotiate pricing for cost savings and winning bid / proposals
  • Support NPI (New Product Introduction) purchases for Engineering



Other Job Functions



  • Interview and select qualified personnel for department vacancies
  • Identify training needs and provide training for applicable personnel
  • Assist inspection efforts as needed
  • Work independently without supervision
  • Other duties may be assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

HS Diploma or equivalent, bacheloris degree preferred

A minimum of 8 years of procurement experience in related industry

Advanced experience with MS Office

Experience working with contracts, RFPs and BOMs

Working knowledge of MRPs and APICS

Working knowledge of electronic and mechanical manufacturing strongly preferred

Knowledge of Export Compliance (ITAR) a plus

Office and production environment

Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time

Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboard, mouse, phone, 10-key)

Ability to work effectively in a rapidly changing environment with multiple deadlines
