Regional Traffic Management Center Operator

The Department of Transportation Engineering District 6-0 traffic unit is actively searching for a skilled and motivated individual to join our 24-hour regional traffic management center. Within this role, you will perform technical work involving monitoring, evaluating, and coordinating communications for real-time traffic conditions at our 24-hour Department of Transportation, Regional Traffic Management Center (RTMC). You will be responsible for receiving and monitoring information on traffic incidents and conditions from multiple sources such as police scanners and through the operation of cameras to confirm and identify traffic events. Work involves verifying incidents with appropriate authorities, dispatching information over two-way radios and telephone units, evaluating and determining the course of action, recommending modified traffic routes, as well as entering information into computer systems. You will have the opportunity to dispatch Freeway Service Patrols (FSPs) and coordinate traffic assistance with department personnel and other incident and emergency management agencies. Lastly, you will required to maintain an understanding of ITS field device equipment including but not limited to CCTV, Changeable Message Signs (CMS), ramp meter, and traffic signal and travel time systems.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, ad hoc. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in King of Prussia.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience evaluating and coordinating information related to traffic data, incidents or conditions.
